What's required to operate from Uganda
Uganda's tourism regulator is the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB). Business registration is handled by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and tax compliance by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
1. UTB Tourism Operating License
Issued by: Uganda Tourism Board (UTB)
Your active Tourism Operating License from the UTB. The primary credential for operating in Uganda. Checked annually.
2. URSB Certificate of Incorporation
Issued by: Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB)
Proves your company is legally registered in Uganda. One-time document unless company details change.
3. URA Taxpayer Document
Issued by: Uganda Revenue Authority (URA)
Your URA taxpayer document confirming you're registered with the revenue authority. Required for our compliance review.
4. Form of Annual Return
Issued by: Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB)
The URSB Form of Annual Return lists all shareholders. Used exclusively for our KYC review.
Sole proprietors
If you operate as a sole proprietor, URSB issues a Certificate of Registration — submit that in place of the Certificate of Incorporation. No separate shareholder document is required if you're the sole owner.
Renewals
The UTB Tourism Operating License renews annually. Explola sends reminders at 30, 7, and 0 days before expiry, with a 14-day grace period after to upload your renewal before Uganda tours are automatically unpublished.
