Overage Charges: How They Work & How to Avoid Them
Understanding how overage fees are calculated when you exceed your monthly inquiry limit.

What Are Overage Charges?
Each subscription plan includes a set number of monthly inquiries. When you receive more inquiries than your plan allows, additional inquiries incur a small overage fee. This ensures you never miss a potential customer — inquiries keep coming through, and you choose which ones to unlock.
Included Inquiries by Plan
Every paid plan comes with a generous number of included inquiries at no extra cost:
- Essential: 10 inquiries per month
- Pro: 20 inquiries per month
- Premium: 50 inquiries per month
- Enterprise: Unlimited
These limits are designed to cover the needs of most operators at each tier. The majority of operators never exceed their included allowance, so overage charges are the exception rather than the norm.
When Do Overages Apply?
Overages only apply once you have used all your included monthly inquiries. The Explorer plan (free) does not support overages — inquiries are simply capped at 10. The Enterprise plan has unlimited inquiries, so overages never apply.
How Overage Pricing Works
Overage fees are calculated as a small percentage of the estimated trip value, based on the traveler's stated budget. The fee varies depending on your plan and the inquiry, but each tier has a clear maximum:
- Essential: Up to 2.5% of estimated trip value
- Pro: Up to 2.0% of estimated trip value
- Premium: Up to 1.5% of estimated trip value
The exact fee is always shown to you before you confirm the unlock, so there are no surprises.
How to Pay Overages
Overage charges are deducted from your credit balance. If you do not have sufficient credit, you will be prompted to top up your balance before the inquiry is unlocked.
Overage Statuses
- Pending — The overage has been calculated but not yet paid
- Paid — The overage has been deducted from your credit balance
- Waived — The overage was cancelled (e.g., if you upgrade your plan)
How to Avoid or Reduce Overages
- Upgrade your plan — Higher plans include more monthly inquiries and lower overage rates
- Monitor your usage — Track your inquiry count on the analytics dashboard so you are not caught off guard
- Upgrade to clear pending overages — When you upgrade to a plan that covers your usage, any pending overage charges are automatically waived
